The genesis of Marc’s architectural journey started by sketching floor plans from houses he visited from memory at the age of around 6. His academics came from New Jersey Institute of Technology, earning Henry Adams award for the top architectural graduate in 1983. His architectural training led to a diverse field of knowledge of architectural design, site planning, structural design, mechanical and plumbing engineering, and construction administration.Since partnering with Ken Braswell to establish Planworx Architecture, our projects have extended our geographic reach, from Texas to Maryland, and from Michigan to Florida. Marc is licensed in 12 states and holds certificate numbers in 8 other states.As president of Planworx Architecture, Marc continually challenges his employees on a business and personal level, while sprinkling in good-natured jocularity to create a more positive atmosphere in the work environment. The goal is that Planworx Architecture strives to be highly professional as well as experientially enjoyable

From an early age, Dan knew he wanted to be an Architect. Dan loves the challenge of visualizing a space more efficiently, be it building plans or even packing the family vehicle with almost twice as much gear as others thought would fit, and with room to spare. Originally from New Jersey, Dan studied architecture at Virginia Tech, graduating with a Bachelor of Architecture. Dan’s philosophy on architecture is to focus on serving the people for whom the spaces are designed. “Early in my career I discovered my passion for a holistic design approach that focuses on a balance of aesthetics and functionality. Integral to this passion is the journey, or the process, of how we get there. Collaboration and mentorship are key.” Dan’s 20 yr+ professional career includes a wide range of project types and market sectors. Beginning in single-family, Dan’s architectural expertise also includes education, healthcare, science & technology, and corporate market sectors. Since joining Planworx in 2021, Dan’s focus has been project management, business operations, and firm wide mentorship of Planworx staff.

Bob is originally from Coral Gables (Miami), Florida and started first studying architecture at Miami-Dade Community College. After graduating from there with an Associate of Arts in Architecture, he moved to Raleigh and eventually was accepted into the School of Design at North Carolina State University. In 1992, he graduated from there with a Bachelor of Architecture.“When possible, I like to take a fresh approach to every project from a design perspective. Every new design should bring with it a uniqueness that is fueled by all the contributing variables (program, client, site, team, etc.). I also love to see a design grow and morph into something totally unexpected.“Bob’s professional experience has been a combination of commercial and multifamily architectural design. From the year 2000 through 2010 and 2017 through the present, his main architectural focus has been the multi-family and mixed-use market sectors.

A native of New York City, Joe graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Architecture from New York Institute of Technology’s Manhattan campus.Joe began his career drafting single family homes before pursuing commercial projects in New York City. Prior to joining Planworx, his over 25 years of experience, includes work on many building types including schools, retail, higher education facilities, museums and courthouses. His experience also spans all phases from schematic design through construction administration. Joe most recently has managed the construction administration for several high-rise Multi-family residential building in New York City. Since joining Planworx, in 2021, Joe has led the construction administration phase of the firm’s Multi-family and mixed-use projects. In addition to his CA efforts, Joe also participates in the firms QA/QC program and assists in the development of projects standards to improve the quality of our services.

Nick’s drive is to create things and consider the whole aspect of its design. From form and aesthetics, to building science and construction details, he strives to create the best solutions to the project at hand.

He has an Associates (Pitt CC), Bachelors (UNC Charlotte), and Masters (NC State) all in architecture, showing his continuous pursuit for more knowledge in the field.

He has worked on a broad range of projects including restaurants, office upfits, clubhouses, auditoriums, churches, K-12, higher-ed, airport terminals, and much more.

Nick grew up in the small town of Fountain, NC but now calls Raleigh home with wife Justine, and three kids; Ava, Anna, Weston and Hammer (the dog haha).

Favorite things to do are cooking, camping and being outdoors in general.

A few favorite architects are Olsun Kundig and Lake Flato.

Alex chose architecture because it combined two of his passions, design and problem solving. As a kid he enjoyed playing with legos and building elaborate forts. He attended Kansas State University where he received his Masters Degree in Architecture. Following school, he worked in Syracuse, NY and Baltimore, MD before joining Planworx Architecture. His diverse portfolio includes commercial, education, tenant upfit, and multi-family. He enjoys a challenge and is known for his innovative design solutions and adept problem-solving skills, consistently delivering functional and aesthetically pleasing spaces that meet the clients needs. His commitment to excellence ensures that each project not only fulfills its intended purpose, but also enhances the user experience. He believes a great project is defined by its ability to derive the solution from the constraints. Originally from Missouri, Alex and his family chose North Carolina for the wonderful people and the diverse, beautiful landscape. In his spare time he enjoys sports, fitness, hiking, and camping.

Pat is a dedicated architect who joined Planworx  in early 2023 and quickly became known for his enthusiasm in engaging with new clients and translating their visions into tangible design realities. Passionate about the initial phases of design, he revels in uncovering the big picture and crafting innovative, thoughtful solutions that set projects apart. Outside of work, Pat cherishes family walks with his wife and three kids, enjoys diving into the data behind fantasy football, and finds solace in some well-earned “me time” while tending to lawn maintenance.

Darci is a dedicated architect with a master’s degree in architecture from the University of South Florida. Her extensive experience encompasses higher education, commercial, and a significant focus on multifamily housing development throughout the southeastern United States. Darci has successfully led multifamily projects in states such as Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas, demonstrating her ability to navigate regional architectural styles and regulatory requirements. She brings a versatile approach to design, balancing functionality and visual appeal. Committed to delivering thoughtful and efficient solutions, she prioritizes client needs to ensure successful and inspiring spaces. Outside of architecture, she is a donut connoisseur and enjoys spending time with her two dogs.

Brian has enjoyed working with numbers and encouraging people since he was a child delivering newspapers, mowing lawns, and shoveling snow in his boyhood home of Dixon, Il.  He played several sports growing up (favorite baseball) and is an avid Cubs fan.

After graduating from College in 1985, Brian taught high school math and accounting for many years.  In 1990 he married his wife Cheryl, who is an elementary school teacher.  Brian and his wife are blessed with three daughters; two are teachers, and one is a registered nurse.

Brian is a quiet member of the Planworx team that works behind the scenes to keep the books balanced and paperwork in order. With his HR responsibilities, he tries to make sure the team is taken care of appropriately.

Hailing from Pittsburgh, PA–Lauren has migrated south and now calls Raleigh home. Over the last 15 years she has built her marketing career in the Media + Medical fields. Working for companies such as iHeartRadio, CBS and Fox bringing a breadth of knowledge and creativity to the Planworx team. She enjoys traveling the world with her husband, visiting art museums, trying new restaurants, practicing yoga, and continuing to feed her love of videography. Growing up in Pittsburgh, she obviously loves a good sporting event (Go Steelers!) You will most likely see her drinking something she juiced.

Brian started his passion for Architecture in High School and by taking a couple of years of Drafting courses as electives. He then went to college to pursue his love for it and graduated with a degree in Architectural Technology. After graduating, he moved to Raleigh, NC and started working at Planworx Architecture in 1994. He loves working with everyone on the Planworx staff. Everyone is so different as people and also what they see in Architecture and it brings a collage of diversity to the office. He also enjoys working with Builders and Clients on new plan design ideas to make each house plan different and better than the one before. He enjoys life with his wife and two kids by spending time at the beach, boating, fishing, attending football and baseball games and hunting in his spare time.

Jerry grew up in Beaufort, NC where in high school from taken drafting courses he discovered he wanted to pursue his career in Architecture. He graduated from Pitt Community College with an Associates degree in Architectural Technology. After getting his degree he moved to Rocky Mount for a job drawing log cabins. In 1997, Jerry moved to Raleigh and started his career at Planworx.

Jerry is one of our Drafters/Project Managers for our single-family and multifamily projects. He has recently in the past year concentrated only on multifamily. Jerry works on all aspects of the project from the beginning of the design development putting the footprints together of a building to the structure and details of the building.

Jerry currently resides in Smithfield with his wife, Misty and two daughters, Ava and Ella, and dog, Coy. He loves to watch sports, especially the Tarheels and the 49ers. He likes going to the beach and the mountains to spend time with his family and friends.

Tate graduated with an Associate Degree in Architectural Technology from Wake Technical Community College in 2003. In that same year, he joined Planworx and began his career in Multifamily. It was here that Tate gained extensive knowledge of accessible design, commercial building codes, and project management. He enjoys drawing conceptual floor plans…putting a building together like a puzzle, one piece at a time. Watching a project go from paper to reality has always been fascinating.

Tate loves sports (GO CUBS!), movies and music. When he’s not doing code research, you might find him fishing with his son or coaching his baseball team. His daughter is in gymnastics…so he just gives her a ride to practice and plenty of encouraging words.

Favorite architecture? “Have you seen the new addition to the Guggenheim?”

He currently resides in Garner with his wife, two children, and dog (Ivy Rain).

Ryan was born in Charlotte, North Carolina from where he attended East Carolina University and earned his Bachelor of Science in Design.Upon graduation, Ryan moved back to Charlotte where he worked as a design manager drafting construction documents for Industrial and Light Commercial projects. After spending 5 years with the firm, Ryan departed from the metal construction world and sought out wood construction. Looking to push his design creativity, Ryan moved to Raleigh to explore the Multi-Family discipline and later joined Planworx in 2015.As Project Manager under our commercial studio, Ryan applies his years of architectural experience in the orchestration of construction documents from the conception phase right down through permit drawings and submittal reviews.Ryan also heads up the BIM department where he is responsible for the integration of guidelines and standards across projects while assisting in the Revit models that are applied in the design of the construction documents and 3D renderings.

Eric was born in New York City but considers himself blessed as he grew up in the mesmerizing landscapes of North-East India. Coming from a construction family, it was his childhood desire to pursue an architecture or construction career. He has varied experience ranging from construction site jobs at his father’s company during school days to eventually getting involved with projects like One BKC – the most prestigious project of Mumbai during that time. He was exposed to the US construction industry when he joined NBBJ Design to lead one of their teams in India. He moved back to the US in 2021 and joined Planworx Architecture to start a new journey in the multi-family design industry.

Eric has been a licensed architect in India for over 12 years now and is currently working towards his architectural licensure in NC. He had co-founded and managed an architectural firm in India for 6 years and was involved with some top multi-national firms before joining Planworx.

Eric and his wife reside in Raleigh with their newborn son, and they enjoy spending most of their time with their church family.

As native of New Orleans, Louisiana, Max graduated from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette with both a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies and a Master’s of Architecture. He has approximately 19 years experience in various fields of architecture, such as multi-family, commercial, institutional, hospitality, space planning, and master planning. His project management experience ranges in projects covering the southeast region in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, and also in Colorado. His main focus, interest and over 11 years of experience is in multi-family and mixed-use projects, as well as new methods of design to help improve walkable communities.

At Planworx, Max has been collaborating with other managers and technicians to develop BIM/CAD firm standards, such as a standard detail library and Revit families. He is currently in progress of working on his licensure exams.

Max and his family moved from Austin, Texas to Chapel Hill, North Carolina in 2023 to be closer to family and join Planworx. With his wife Margarita and his two daughters, Penelope and Luna, he enjoys taking his family hiking, to the beach and other outdoor adventures. His hobbies include watching NFL, Formula 1, playing soccer, cycling, and mountain biking to name a few.

Chris developed an early passion for architecture while growing up in Michigan and New England. After graduating from high school in the North Shore of Massachusetts, he pursued both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in architecture at Roger Williams University in Rhode Island. Following his studies, he worked in Boston, focusing primarily on mixed-use multifamily and commercial projects before relocating to Raleigh, North Carolina. In Raleigh, Chris has contributed to a diverse portfolio, spanning government, commercial, religious, and multifamily developments. He is particularly drawn to the intersection of technical precision and creative problem-solving in exterior design development, always seeking innovative and aesthetically compelling solutions that meet clients’ needs efficiently. His expertise ranges from early conceptual design to construction documentation, ensuring thoughtful, well-executed projects. Beyond architecture, Chris channels his creativity into photography and enjoys the strategic challenge of golf, where his competitive nature thrives.

Hailing from the beautiful state of Utah, Ashlyn holds a bachelor’s degree in Family Studies from Brigham Young University. Her academic journey also led her to Durham Technical Community College, where she earned a certificate in Architectural AutoCAD. With a unique blend of expertise in family dynamics and architectural design, Ashlyn brings a multifaceted perspective to her professional endeavors.

As a child, Ashlyn spent countless hours drawing floor plan layouts for her bedroom, sparking an early passion for architecture. This enthusiasm was reignited in later years with the design of tiny homes, fueling dreams of one day bringing these innovative and efficient living spaces to life. She has worked at Planworx since August 2022 where she continues to apply her skills and passion for architectural design. Whether exploring intricate human relationships or creating precise architectural plans, Ashlyn is dedicated to fostering meaningful connections and innovative solutions.

After living in Durham, North Carolina for 4 years, Ashlyn and her husband Ryan moved back to Utah for Ryan’s career. Living close to family again has brought renewed joy, especially spending time with their nieces and nephews. When she’s not enjoying a walk with her dog Copper, you can find Ashlyn working on a house project, including building slide out pantry shelves, a small deck, and a board and batten wall to name a few.

Erica’s passion for architecture started at a very young age through playing with Legos and Lincoln Logs. This joy evolved into drawing imaginary floor plans and elevations of dream houses, later creating them in Sims 2. These childhood games harnessed an interest for the connectivity of spaces, and how different rooms each with a different purpose fit together to make one cohesive product. While working through her Bachelor of Science in Architecture from Roger Williams University and an internship at a renovation engineering consulting firm in New Jersey, followed by 3.5 years of project management at this same firm, Erica’s interest in how rooms fit together quickly evolved into how such spaces are built: are these intricate, imaginary houses constructable? Discovering the construction and contract administration sub-field within architecture, Erica knew where she belonged: helping to ensure the construction phase runs smoothly from the start through submittal and RFI reviews, with an interest in construction details to provide safe, waterproofed spaces. She has been with Planworx since December 2022.
